Part of the Terrence/Brianna series. Bri and Steph spend the summer getting into the local music scene. When they venture out farther than Terrence gave them permission, both girls end up paying.
Summer of Concerts
by Breanna Carter
Going through trial after trial after trial was more exhausting than one would think. I had two trials for court and then one for the school. Apparently, this expulsion thing was "suspension pending an expulsion hearing." Way to tell me AFTER I had gotten all upset about being expelled.
Anyway, things weren't so bad. Stephanie called me the day of my suspension and asked if everything was all right. Apparently, the word had spread really quickly about me getting arrested and she was worried to death because she just knew that Terrence would take it really badly. I think she was more scared that he'd come by and beat up Jeremy for getting me started into that kind of stuff. I argued with her though, and told her that Terrence was upset, but he wouldn't beat anyone up. I told her all of this while lying on my stomach =) She said that Jeremy had gone to the security officer and admitted to helping with my distribution of the drugs right after they pounced on that freshman kid who told on me. I smiled in spite of it... Jeremy really wasn't such a bad guy. At least he felt like he should go down, too... or maybe he was just afraid I would tell on him. I felt kind of bad, telling on him and everything. But he had admitted to it anyway, and Steph said that neither of them saw me as a bad guy. This was a good thing.
Anyway, Jeremy wasn't expelled from school since he didn't bring any on campus. But he was arrested and summons to court. So that was an extra court date that I had to go to, and he was brought to my trial as well. To make a long story short, neither of us was put in jail, just under tons of community service, and I was able to return to school for my junior year. For the remainder of my life as a sophomore, I went to a private school (for some odd reason) and met a friend named Jayna who played soccer. She told me about all of the camps that she had gone to and actually inspired me to play myself. So we spent the rest of the school year just playing soccer together.
The school wasn't really that bad. We had to wear uniforms, but they were super adorable. There was also this dumb requirement that all students had to participate in some kind of extracurricular activity. It didn't apply to me, of course, because I was only going to be there for one month. I thought it was pretty cool, though. There was no "popular" crowd or anything, and everyone seemed to like me. I guess that's because they were all used to having rich families and most of them were goody-goody. A lot of them were surprised to hear about me being kicked out of school. And it wasn't an all girls' school, either. I met a really hot guy named Ashton who was a junior and sexy as hell. I was too shy to talk to him, though. That's okay.
Anyway, school seemed to end pretty quickly. I was thankful that it wasn't one of those schools where you go year round, because I was looking forward to a summer hanging out with Steph and Jayna. I was finally allowed to drive my car again.
Jayna introduced me to the concert scene. She took me downtown one night to a local venue and I fell in love with everything. It wasn't like a big concert, like the one I skipped school to go to that time, but it was a local place where there were some couches and a huge floor dedicated to moshing. I couldn't bear the thought of going to a local concert and making Steph miss out on all of the hot guys, and before I knew it, she and I were going there every weekend. Mostly due to our crush on a sexy guitarist from one of the bands.
"Terrence!" I called on a lazy afternoon, mid-August. It was hot outside, and Stephanie's car was definitely not in prime condition to drive anywhere. See, we really, really wanted to go to this concert... The concert was about an hour and a half away, in some small town that we liked to call "in the boonies." There are plenty of boonies in Louisiana. I knew Terrence wouldn't even consider letting me drive that far away, and on the interstate? Hell no... I had already gotten in trouble once for going to a concert... but it was all the way in Dallas, and this wasn't too far... and besides, it wasn't like I was going to ask him if I could go and I wasn't going to stay the night or anything.
"Yeah?" he called back from the living room couch, flipping through the channels.
"I'ma hang out with Steph tonight, is that okay?"
"Yeah, it's fine," he murmured, stopping on a channel.
I finally found my raggedy shoes hiding behind the couch and sat next to Terrence, putting them on. "One o'clock curfew?" I asked hopefully. He had been letting me stay out later due to the fact that it was summer and the other fact that the concerts weren't usually over until at least 12.
He looked at me. "Where you two going?"
"Concert." At least he hadn't forced me to lie to him yet.
"At that place downtown?"
I nodded. It probably WAS downtown, so at least I was still telling the truth.
"Yeah, I guess," he muttered then turned back around.
"Thanks!" I squealed and gave him a big hug. "I'll see you later!" I bolted out of the door towards my tiny car, grinning with excitement. I rarely drove on the interstate, and this was a treat for me. In fact, come to think of it, the only time I had driven on the interstate was when I took that trip to Dallas. I didn't have much use for it. Of course, that's not what really excited me. What excited me was that I was seeing my favorite local band in concert, and I wasn't going to get in trouble for it this time!
I met up with Stephanie and we hung out at her house for a little while, just talking about the new school year and how hot it was outside. Neither of us liked hot weather that much and although we weren't ready for school, we were ready for fall. Jeremy was getting all packed up for college and it kind of depressed me a little to see him go. I mean, Jeremy and I were never an item, but he was sexy as hell and... well, like an older brother to me I guess. I dunno why it depressed me, it just did.
So, Steph and I waited for time to pass and eventually five o'clock came around and we headed away, blaring heavy music and singing along with the windows rolled down and the air on full blast. Terrence would have killed me just seeing that, saying that I was wasting the air. He was always picky about stuff like that... If the air was on, windows were up and doors were shut. It's that conserving money thing. I, on the other hand, wanted my window down AND the air on, and since I was on the interstate miles away from Terrence, he couldn't do anything about it.
The road trip was smooth, as was the show itself. After telling everyone how much fun the place was and how much we'd like to come back, we headed back towards town, the clock reading 10:15 pm. We had to leave early so we could get something to eat and I could get home a little before one.
"Shit," I muttered. "I need some gas..."
Steph looked at me. "We're miles away from the nearest station," she said. "How much longer do you think you can run?"
I glanced down at the dash. The orange light was flashing right next to the gas gauge that was right on the E. "I don't know, Steph."
She practically stood up and looked over my shoulder. "Is it UNDER the line?" she asked with a panicky voice.
"Nah, we'll be fine," I decided. "But if you see an exit for a gas station, let me know."
She nodded. I drove a little farther, then turned the air off.
"HEY!" she shrieked. "It's too hot to have the air off."
I glared at her. "Without air we can conserve gas and we need all we can get cause there isn't much between here and home."
She pouted but rolled her window down anyway and turned up the music we were listening to.
We drove like that for probably about ten miles and then I felt the car putter to a stop. "OH GOD!" Steph screamed in my ear.
"Jesus Christ, Steph... that's my EAR!" I turned my flashers on and pulled over towards the side of the road.
"What are we going to do?!"
I rolled my eyes. Sometimes she could be such a girl. I looked around, trying to remain cool and think of a plan. Like an angel from heaven, a light beamed on a sign a little bit in front of us and I saw a sign for a Shell station.
"Perfect!" I muttered. "Look, Steph. There's a sign for a gas station. I'll walk, and you can sit in here and I'll be back in a few minutes. I have a can to put gas in."
She glanced at me. "I'm NOT staying in this car by myself! And I'm not letting you walk by yourself!"
"Well, do you have a better plan?" By this time I was digging in my pocket to see if I had any spare change. "Shit, I don't have any money..."
"There MUST be something... We'll get killed on the side of the road..." she muttered, and it took me a minute to realize that she was talking about a plan to get out of here.
"Dammit, Stephanie... we'll just stay the fucking night out here on the road if you don't have any money."
I startled her and she looked at me. "Oh, money?" She dug in her own pockets, coming up with about four pennies.
"That won't buy us anything," I murmured and slumped in my seat. We sat in silence for a few minutes and then I sat up straight again. "Gas card!" I exclaimed. I checked in my back pants pocket and it wasn't there.
That's funny, 'cause I could have sworn I put it there... I thought. I shrugged, though, then looked through my wallet. "Steph... I can't find the card... We gotta find it... Terrence'll kill me."
I turned on the overhead light and we searched all through the car, coming up with nothing but a few more pennies and a quarter, which actually made me so giddy, I was dancing around for two minutes.
Finally, I slumped back in my seat. "This is great, just fucking great," I muttered. "We're stuck in the middle of nowhere, no money, no gas card..." I covered my eyes up before I began to cry. "Steph... I can't call Terrence. You have to call your parents. We can't stay out here forever!"
Steph nodded. "I'll call 'em, Bri... it'll be okay."
"But, I'll miss curfew and he'll want to know why..."
"Just tell him that we had some car trouble or something. I'm sure he'll understand."
"And I don't have his credit card... man, I'm in so much shit..." It was my turn to panic.
Stephanie began dialing the number of her parents. "It's okay, Bri, calm down." There was a moment of silence. The only thing I could hear was an almost inaudible ringing on Steph's phone and occasionally, a car passed by us. "Shit, Bri... I forgot... they were going to some kind of party. They won't be home until three or something."
"What about your brother?"
"No telling where he is."
"GODDAMMIT!" I yelled, slamming my fist down on the steering wheel.
"I'll call Bradley," she said. Bradley was one of her brother's friends who was basically like a second older brother.
But, we couldn't get hold of him either, his cell was turned off.
I scowled to myself.
Stephanie went through all of the numbers on her phone and called the ones that could maybe help us... but nobody could. The clock was getting nearer and nearer to 12... It'd take almost an hour just to get to Steph's house... and plus, I had to drive home from there, and that'd add on another 15 minutes.
"Okay," I muttered. "I'll call Terrence. We can't stay out here forever."
Stephanie nodded. I could tell that she figured I should have called him much earlier, but she hadn't said anything. After all, she knew what happened with Terrence.. seeing as she had gotten in trouble with him once before.
"Think of an excuse of why we're out here."
"Just tell him the truth... that we were going to a concert and ran out of gas."
"I'll tell him that I thought it was downtown. Can I blame it on you?"
"Sure," she said, grinning.
I wasn't so sure about telling Terrence the truth, but I couldn't think of any other reason of why I'd be all the way out in the boonies like I was.
I shakily picked up the cell phone and dialed the number to my house. It rang twice and then I heard him answer.
"Heya, Terrence. Look, we ran out of gas and money... do you think you could come bring some gas so we can get home?"
"Sure," he said, not sounding the least bit upset with me. This was a plus. At least he wouldn't be pissed about THAT part of it. "Where are you?"
I looked around. "Uhhhhh... highway one I believe. Isn't it highway one?" I asked Steph, and she nodded.
"Highway one?" he asked in a confused voice. "That can't be right. What are you doing on highway one?"
"See, we went to that concert, and I thought it was going to be downtown, but it ended up being in..." I paused. "somewhere outside of Monroe."
I held the phone away from ear. "Yeah..."
"How far are you outside of Monroe right now?"
"Uhmmm... about twenty minutes?"
He sighed exasperatedly. "It'll take me a fucking hour to get there, do you realize that? Don't you have my gas card? There isn't a station anywhere near?"
"Well, see... I kinda lost it..."
"You LOST it?!?"
"Erm, yeah." I held the phone back away from my ear. I could hear him perfectly fine with it that far away.
"Where are you?"
I explained to him that the sign for the gas station said it was a mile away and that we were a few feet away from that sign.
"You both stay in that car, do you hear me? Turn your flashers on so nobody will hit you."
I wanted to tell him that I wasn't stupid and I knew when to turn my flashers on, but instead, I just muttered an okay then hung up the phone.
I glanced at Stephanie and she was staring straight at me, chewing on her nail. "Well...? What'd he say?"
"He said he'd be here soon... 'stay in the car and turn your flashers on,'" I added in a Terrence voice.
She halfway smiled.
"I'm in so much shit."
She put a hand on my shoulder. "I'll take all the blame. I'll tell him that I didn't tell you it was downtown and we were running late and I didn't want to tell you that it was so far away because I knew you wouldn't go. That way it'll sound like I tricked you into going so far away against your will."
I nodded and smiled then leaned back in my seat to wait for Terrence to get there.
I was awakened by a loud pounding on my window and Terrence's angry face staring at me. I jumped a little, then hit Stephanie who was also asleep. All the excitement must have worn us out. I unlocked the door.
"What the hell are you doing? Taking a nap? Out here in the middle of nowhere! Anybody could come up and rape you!"
I wanted to sigh and roll my eyes, but I didn't want to make matters worse, so I decided against it.
"You have a lot of explaining to do when we get home young lady!"
"Terrence," Steph butted in. "It's really my fault. I didn't tell Brianna where the show was, and I knew it wasn't downtown and I tricked her into going this way and she wanted to turn around and go back home. But, I wouldn't let her."
Terrence opened his mouth to say something then closed it again and glared at Stephanie. "We'll see when we get home." He turned to me. "Open your gas tank."
I popped it open and took a deep breath in and looked at Steph.
"I don't think he bought it," I whispered.
"Not yet... I'll explain the whole thing when we get home."
I nodded as Terrence came trudging back towards the door. "To the gas station then straight home, Brianna Nicole," he said sternly, handing me ten dollars.
"Yes, sir!" I said, like I was in a prison camp. I caught his glare then said, "see ya in a little while."
Steph and I drove in silence, my mind on what was going to happen next, and I have no idea what she was thinking about. But this deathly silence was NOT fun. Especially since the quieter it was, the more my mind wandered.
"Why aren't we listening to music?" Steph asked, startling me.
"I dunno... put something in. Something vivacious."
Of course, once the vivacious song came on, I pulled into my driveway and awaited my fate. Terrence's car was already in the driveway and the porch light was on. I gulped. "Well, here it goes."
"Have a seat," he commanded when I swung the door open.
Hurriedly, the two of us sat, while we were able to. He towered over us, being so tall and all, glaring down at us with dark brown eyes.
"Stephanie, explain to me what happened."
"Well," she stammered. "See... uh... There was a concert downtown... and uh... well, that's what I told Brianna at least, but I told her that it was at a different place and that we, uh, had to get on the interstate to get there... and uh... she wanted to turn around and come back home after a while, but I told her not to, and we always missed the turn arounds, and uh... then, we got to the venue and she wasn't any fun to be with 'cause she was so scared... and then uh... we ran out of gas and she couldn't find the gas card and neither of us had any money and uh... we called you."
Terrence nodded slowly, the look on his face obviously doubting the words coming from Steph's mouth. "Really," he stated. "And Brianna?" he said, turning his glance towards me.
"Everything she said was true..."
"I see." There was silence for a moment. I glanced at Stephanie and she glanced back at me with a hopeful look in her eyes. "Stephanie, where are your parents?"
"Uh... at some party..." she stammered.
"Ah, I see." He paused. "I guess that means that I have to take care of you myself, huh?" I blinked. Uh, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind...
"Yeah. I mean, since the whole thing was your fault, then you should be punished, right?"
She glanced at me. "I... I guess..."
"Good. Brianna, go sit over there," he pointed to the chair in the corner of the room and I waddled over there on my jelly legs. This wasn't good...
He grabbed Stephanie's arm and pulled her from the couch. He sat down and pulled her over his knee, flipping her skirt up and lowering her panties to expose pale cheeks. Steph struggled. "Terrence, I'm sorry!" she whined.
I bit my lower lip with nervousness. She didn't deserve this... I deserved it.
"Well, think about this next time you decide to trick Brianna into going miles away to some concert," he scolded, resting his hand on her bum. I took a deep breath in, wanting to butt in and make it stop... but before I got the chance to, he began smacking her upturned bottom.
She squealed after every smack, but she wouldn't tell him that she lied... that it was really MY idea to go.
SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK!!!!
"Owwwwwwwwww," she whined, kicking her legs a little, trying to make the sting go away.
But Terrence didn't let up, and in fact, the sound of the smacking got louder and louder and he increased his speed. "I can't believe you girls... driving all the way to Monroe without my permission." SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK!!!!
"Haven't the two of you done something like this before?" he asked, glancing at me, but not letting up on the rhythm of the smacks.
Stephanie's bottom was a dark pink, and she was bobbing up and down, squealing like crazy and tears were falling down her face. I felt so bad for her...
"Stop," I muttered...
Terrence stopped. "What?"
Wow, it actually worked.
"She doesn't deserve this... it was my fault."
"Now, how do I know you're not lying to me?" He continued spanking her again and I just kind of rested against the chair, and turned my head away. "Brianna, part of your punishment is watching this one, so I suggest you do so," he yelled over the loud smacking noises.
So, I watched. Her bottom was turning from pink to red, and he was concentrating on the sit spots and she was kicking and screaming and sobbing and pleading for him to stop. I wondered if I carried on and on like that...
"I'm sorry!" she blubbered. "It wasn't me!" she yelled.
He stopped midair. "What was that, Stephanie?"
She was breathing heavily and still sobbing. "It wasn't me. Brianna knew where we were going..." she paused to cry more.
"Ohhhhh," Terrence said in an overly sarcastic voice. "So, you mean to tell me that you lied for Brianna and she really DID know that you guys were going to a concert an hour and a half away?"
He patted her bottom then pulled her panties back up and flipped her skirt down. He rubbed her back for a moment. I felt like an outsider, like I shouldn't be watching this... like I was a next door neighbor, spying on someone. He rubbed her back until her crying subsided then lifted her up.
"Steph," he began, looking seriously into her eyes. "I knew that Brianna was aware of the fact that the concert was in Monroe. I could tell when I talked to her on the phone. I think you should stand up for your friends, but lying for them isn't the way to do that. I know that you care about Brianna, but when she does something wrong, she's suppposed to get punished for it, okay? She has to learn the consequences of her own actions or she could get badly hurt one day, more so than just a tiny spanking."
Steph snickered a bit to the words "tiny spanking" and I knew she was thinking that she'd hate to feel what a big spanking was.
"The reason I spanked you is because you lied to me. And I figured, if you were going to lie for Brianna, you should be punished for Brianna, too."
"Have you learned your lesson?"
She nodded again.
"Good girl." He hugged her tight then stood up. "Let's get you home. Brianna, I want you to wait in your room and I'll be back in a few minutes."
I snapped back into reality realizing that I wasn't the outsider anymore, but an insider, and I didn't like the idea of that. It meant that I was going to get spanked next. But, it didn't really bother me that much... because I had gotten my best friend spanked and I deserved every bit of what was coming to me.
I waited in my room for what seemed like hours. Unlike when we were in the car, I was way too nervous to fall asleep. I hated waiting...
Finally, I heard Terrence's car pull into the driveway. I sat up on the edge of my bed, waiting for him to come in and yell at me for being so irresponsible and to spank me until I couldn't sit for a week.
But, I ended up waiting instead.
Finally, I heard a soft knock on my door and Terrence cracked it open. Seeing that I was awake and ready, he opened the door with the paddle in his hand and flopped down on the bed next to me.
"Brianna..." he began, looking deep into my eyes, "how could you lie to me like that... twice, in one day?"
"I don't know, Terrence," I said, already letting tears stream down my face. "I'm sorry... it was stupid and I shouldn't have let Stephanie down like that and I should have stood up for my own punishment instead of letting her take it for me... and I'm ready for whatever you have to give me."
He nodded. "Bri... most of your punishment is over. I wanted you to see what happens when you put the blame on someone else. I know that you and Steph are great friends, but sometimes, you need to be the bigger person and accept your own punishment instead of putting it off on someone else. And I saw by your reaction that seeing your best friend take the blame wasn't a pleasant experience for either of you."
"And I truly think you learned your lesson about that."
I nodded again.
"Now, I want to hear what really happened about that concert."
I took a deep breath in. "It was our favorite band and we wanted to go see it, so I decided that I'd drive us since Steph's car didn't have an air conditioner, and I didn't want to ask you because I figured that you'd say no and last time I asked and you said no, I went anyway and you found out about it and I figured this time you wouldn't find out because I didn't ask you." I realized what I said was a complete run-on sentence, but I didn't care. There it was... the truth... all out in the open.
"I see." He paused. "Brianna... you realize that when I tell you that you can't go somewhere, it's for your own safety?"
"If I would have told you that you couldn't go to this concert tonight, it'd be because there were only two of you girls, and what would happen if the car broke down? What if your phone had been dead? How would you have gotten help? That's why it's important for me to know where you are... in case something like that does happen and you don't make it home by curfew. It's so I can pace around the house worried for an hour, then come out looking for you because I know where you are. If you wouldn't have had a phone tonight, then I would have been searching all through downtown looking for you, and then I would have been really pissed. Brianna, you're my little sister, and you're all I got. I care about you so much, that's why I set these limits. You could have gotten raped or kidnapped or killed tonight... or all three. And I worry about you."
I looked down at the floor in disappointment of myself.
"I probably would have let you go if you would have just asked me..." he added, lifting my chin so that my eyes met his. "I don't appreciate you lying to me, okay?"
He smiled and hugged me. "All right, Bri... because I know that you basically learned your lesson, I'm only giving you eight whacks with the paddle. That's half of 16, which is your age, just so you can remember how old you are... and since you already got half of your punishment, here's the other half, okay?"
"Mmmmk.." I said, standing up. He stood up, too, and I unbuttoned my jeans and let them fall to the floor.
"Hands flat on the bed," he ordered, and I obeyed, then braced myself. He tugged my panties down to my knees.
The first whack took me by complete and utter surprise and I yelped really loudly and jumped. I felt his left hand on my back to keep me bent over the bed.
I bobbed up and down on my toes. This hurt a lot!
"OWWWWIEEEEEE!!!" I yelled, shifting my weight from one side of my body to the other, trying to subside the pain.
"Last three..." he said.
WHACK! WHACK! WHACK!!!
I collapsed onto my bed when he lifted his hand from my back and cried into the pillows. "I'm sorryyyy," I said in a muffled voice.
"I know, Bri... shhhhhh, it's okay little sis. It's okay. I love you."
He picked my limp body from the bed and pulled my panties back up to my waist, then hugged me tightly and told me how much he loved me and cared about me.
"I really learned my lesson," I promised.
"Good," he said, patting my head.
